Canon celebrates 10th anniversary of XL series camcorders
Wednesday October 24th 2007Canon is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of its XL series line of camcorders, which currently consists of the XL H1 and XL2 camcorders. For the past ten years, the XL series has played an integral role in facilitating affordable independent filmmaking and has provided professional videographers, whether in the studio or in the field, with the technology to help make their creative visions a reality.
Canon’s philosophy of offering technology and features that provide increased creative control, flexibility and capability, in both High-Definition and Standard Definition formats, has played a significant role in the success of the XL camcorder series. Designed for demanding videographers who want to meet production challenges, the XL camcorder series offers professionals exceptional image quality through its architecture and feature sets.
"The XL series was born out of Canon’s heritage as an imaging leader, and since 1997 has provided cutting-edge optics, technology and advanced features in a camcorder that is ideal for professional videographers," said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. "Canon’s tradition of imaging innovation and providing users best-in-class products remains strong and we look forward to continuing to break new ground in the video industry."
As part of the special celebration of the XL series 10th anniversary, Canon announced a special promotion. Customers who purchase a new XL H1 Camcorder kit between October 23 – December 31, 2007 will receive (via mail-in rebate) a free Focus FS-C Portable DTE Recorder (60GB). The Focus FS-C Portable DTE Recorder is valued at $1,399 and helps video professionals to excel in the field by bringing Direct To Edit recording technology to their Canon DV or HDV-based camcorder.
