Facebook introduces Movie Clique powered by Blockbuster

People love to talk about movies almost as much as they like they like to view them, and with the launch of Movie Clique from Blockbuster, Facebook users now have a new way to join the dialogue.

Movie Clique is an easy-to-use application built on Facebook Platform that enables Facebook users to search thousands of movie titles and create lists of movies they want to see, movies they’ve already seen and all-time favorites – along with ratings and reviews – to share with their friends.

Users who subscribe to Blockbuster’s online rental service can also rent movies directly from Blockbuster without leaving the Facebook website.

"Facebook users love movies, and they love to compare notes and share suggestions with their peers," said Keith Morrow, Blockbuster chief information officer. "We wanted to take that exchange and interaction to a

whole new level with Movie Clique by offering content and rental opportunities as only Blockbuster can – all without leaving the Facebook website that these users already enjoy. It’s just one more way we’re working to give consumers convenient access to media entertainment, whenever and wherever they want it."

Any Facebook user who is a registered user on blockbuster.com gets the added benefit of using Movie Clique to seamlessly access and manage the ratings, reviews, favorites and movie queue they’ve already taken time to establish on the Blockbuster website.

"This is a great perk for Blockbuster subscribers, who now have the flexibility to interact with their ratings, reviews and rental queue from whichever site is most convenient," Morrow added. "There’s no having to rebuild lists or re-rate movies to use the Facebook website as their point of access to Blockbuster."

Users can expect to see even more features and enhancements within Movie Clique in the coming months.

"Movie Clique is a robust application any movie lover will enjoy, and we’ll continue to evolve and enrich the application as we gain insights and feedback from users," Morrow said.

The introduction of Movie Clique is part of a broader effort by Blockbuster to engage and cultivate relationships with Facebook’s vast and active user base by providing them with community-driven movie-focused experiences.

"Facebook is one of the most trafficked website in the United States, and its users align with our core customers," Morrow said. "It just makes sense for us to look for ways to become part of the social discussion and network of connections that exists on the site."
