Maple Pictures and Microsoft sign multi-year agreement

Maple Pictures’ Co-Presidents Brad Pelman and Laurie May announced an agreement with Microsoft Corp. to bring feature films to Canadian members of Xbox LIVE, the online games and entertainment network on Xbox 360.

Following the increasing trend among some of the biggest film companies in the industry, Maple Pictures will now be adding programming to a growing catalogue of films offered on the service.

“Xbox LIVE consumers are fiercely loyal and they have very specific tastes," said Brad Pelman. “This joint venture provides an exciting outlet for gaming audiences and we’re looking forward to showcasing Maple Pictures’ exciting film slate with them.”

Some upcoming highlights from Maple Pictures include the action-packed smash WAR starring Jet Li and Jason Statham, critically acclaimed 3:10 TO YUMA, starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, and the romantic comedy GOOD LUCK CHUCK starring Jessica Alba and Dane Cook. All three titles will be among those available for download on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, the leading high-definition video download service.

“Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE Marketplace are all about the overall entertainment experience, so we’re very excited to add movie rentals on demand for Canada,” said Scott Nocas, Global Marketing Manager, Xbox LIVE. “Working with strong partners like Maple Pictures will mean Canadians can now look to Xbox LIVE as the best place to watch great movies in glorious high definition.”

Xbox LIVE Marketplace content is available to all Xbox 360 owners. High-definition new-release movie rentals start at 460 Microsoft Points each, and standard-definition new-release movie rentals start at 310 Microsoft Points each.
