Norman Jewison’s Canadian Film Center said it has sold the naming rights to its film school program to domestic exhibition giant Cineplex Entertainment.
The Toronto-based Canadian Film Center said it will change the name of its film program to the Cineplex Entertainment Film Program in return for $1 million over five years from Canada’s largest cinema circuit. In addition, Cineplex Entertainment will provide an annual scholarship of $100,000 to one film resident enrolled in the film school.
The Canadian Film Center was founded by Hollywood film director Norman Jewison in 1988. Its film school alumni include Sarah Polley, Andrew Currie, Vincenzo Natali, Clement Virgo and Elizabeth Yake.
