Ira Levy receives 2008 PS Industry-Builders Award
Saturday February 23rd 2008Douglas Barrett, President and CEO of PS Production Services Ltd. announced today that Ira Levy of Breakthrough Films and Television is the recipient of the 2008 PS Industry-Builders Award.
Mr. Barrett presented the award during an event held at this year’s CFTPA conference, together with last years’ recipients, Wayne Grigsby and David MacLeod of Big Motion Pictures based in Nova Scotia.
“This award recognizes Ira’s tremendous and substancial commitment to building the Canadian film and television industry. He leads by quietly supporting and encouraging the work of others and by applying old-fashioned wisdom and relentless good humour to thorny problems,” said Mr. Barrett.
Mr. Levy has been a member of the Canadian Film and Television Production Association for over 10 years and was elected Board Chair in 2005. He continues to be actively involved in the CFTPA’s committees alongside his involvement with the Canadian Television Fund and the Alliance for Children and Television.
Breakthrough Films and Television is a major producer of popular drama, factual and lifestyle programming,
as well as children’s live action and animated series. Over the past 20 years, executive producers Ira Levy and Peter Williamson have built a creative partnership, producing over 2000 half-hours of quality content, establishing Breakthrough as one of Canada’s most prolific providers of television programming.
