ROME — Entries began screening Wednesday in the Babelgum Online Film Festival, the virtual festival that will award 140,000 euros ($213,000) in prizes across eight official categories.
The festival said has received 1,012 entries from 86 countries, with the bulk — about 35% — coming from the U.S.
Online viewers will decide the festival’s top 10 films in each category. From that point, a panel of judges will whittle the list of candidates in each category to three, with director Spike Lee selecting each of the eight winners.
