Toronto rounds out biz confabs

TORONTO — The Toronto Intl. Film Festival will bring back the popular Intl. Financing Forum and Meet With events this year.

The fest announced its full slate of industry confab events and daily meets on Monday, with Match Club returning as the hub for all Canadian and international sales, industry and guest relations office delegates.

The Intl. Financing Forum (IFF) allows selected international and Canadian producers developing English language projects to rub shoulders in brokered meets and networking opportunities with international sales agents, funders, distributors and execs. IFF takes place Sept. 7-8.

Match Club will host Meet With sessions from 11 a.m. to 12 noon from Sept. 5-11 with biz and craft pros addressing a variety of hot topics.

Documentary filmmakers and industry types can put their heads together in Doc Corner (Match Club, 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m.), and attend roundtable sessions (Sept. 7-10, 2-4 p.m.) with distributors, fest programmers and sales types.

Canuck filmmakers will strut their stuff at Pitch This! (projects are already selected) Sept. 9, while emerging filmmakers learn the ropes and get mentored by visiting international helmers at the Talent Lab all week.

Match Club is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 4-11 at 5th Elementt Restaurant, 1033 Bay Street, just north of Sutton Place Hotel.
