Rogers Media Television Expands to Include OLN

TORONTO /CNW/ – Rogers Media Television announced its takeover of operations of OLN as of August 31. This follows the purchase of the specialty channel which took place August 1.

OLN is a big addition to Rogers’ Television offerings which also include the 5 Citytv stations across Canada, OMNI Ontario (OMNI1 and OMNI 2), OMNI BC, OMNI Alberta, The Biography Channel and G4TechTV Canada. OLN offers Canadians experience-based programming taking them on adventures from the comfort of their own living rooms.

“We are thrilled to welcome OLN into our broadcast family and are pleased to be able to reach more viewers with the exciting and innovative programming OLN has to offer,” said Alain Strati, Vice President, Specialty TV & Development, Rogers Media Television. Viewers can turn to OLN this fall for even more new and original productions including “Which Way To…” staring The Eagar brothers – Jeff, Chris and Steve. Whether riding up the majestic Nile River on a felucca boat, hitchhiking across Peru on flatbed trucks, crossing the Arctic Circle on a reindeer sled, or returning home to Cape Breton, theirs
is a quest to share – with viewers and each other – some of the world’s richest cultures.

This season will see new acquired programming including the highly-anticipated “The Academy”, where viewers get an arresting look at some of the most intense police training in America, and “Crusoe”, the tale of a young man who leaves his true love to embark on an adventure only to end up shipwrecked on a remote tropical island for 28 years, based on the legendary novel by Daniel Defoe. Fan favourites returning to the OLN schedule include Season 13 of “The Amazing Race”. Sports enthusiasts can continue to rely on OLN for exciting competition events such as the Tour de France and the 2009 Dakar moving to South America this year.
