    Toronto film fest CEO and co-director Piers Handling is stepping up fund-raising for Bell Lightbox, the future home of the Toronto Intl. Film Festival Group and its year-round activities. The new facility will cost C$196 million ($163 million), including capital for endowments and operating costs. When the campaign hit a $120 million plateau this summer, the fest turned to a Toronto consulting firm specializing in arts philanthropy for new ideas.

    Canadian actor Seth Rogen will join Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez and Amy Poehler as presenters at The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which traditionally kick off the annual awards season. It had been previously announced that Simon Baker, Drew Barrymore and Sacha Baron Cohen would also be presenters.

  • First Internet-created feature film debuts next month

    The Internet has democratized information and given us the ability to “poke” each other on Facebook. Now it has brought that same decisive dissemination to filmmaking, as the first feature film created entirely by an Internet community is set to debut in January. The film is the product of Massify, a film production community that provides tools for members to share ideas, collaborate on projects, post resumes and portfolios, secure funding through grants, and ultimately find an audience through distribution companies.
