  • ‘Outrage’ leads Hot Docs lineup

    Hot Docs unveiled its slate yesterday, including the international preem of Kirby Dick’s indictment of closeted American politicos “Outrage” and the Canadian preems of James Toback’s “Tyson” and Mercedes Stalenhoef’s “Carmen Meets Borat,” about the Romanian villagers seen in “Borat.” The 16th edition of North America’s largest nonfiction fest will unspool 171 pics, selected from a record 1,948 submissions, during its 11-day run, which kicks off in Toronto April 30.

    The New York film scene is undergoing its biggest shakeup in years, mostly due to possible changes at downtown/uptown rivals Tribeca and the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Exec shuffles at both places have caused a flurry of speculation about how the city’s movie event map will be redrawn. One major potential shift suddenly being buzzed about in film circles has been the long-discussed notion of moving the Tribeca fest from the spring into the fall.
