E1 taps exec for current programming

E1 Entertainment, the shingle behind upcoming series such as HBO’s “Hung” and CBS’ “The Bridge,” has tapped Larry Gilbert to head up current programming.

Gilbert will report to E1′s president of dramatic programming, Noreen Halpern, who announced the hire.

Exec will be based out of E1′s Los Angeles office as VP of current programming. He’ll oversee current productions for E1 Entertainment series in both the U.S. and Canada.

E1′s exec expansion comes as the shingle licensed two Canadian co-productions to U.S. nets — besides “The Bridge,” E1 is also producing “Copper” for ABC. Gilbert was previously VP of development at Icon Prods.
