Hollywood turns up heat in San Diego

SAN DIEGO — Hollywood rolled out the red carpet in San Diego, hosting more than a dozen parties for the celebrities and filmmakers attending Comic-Con over the weekend.

As was the case in previous years, Entertainment Weekly and Syfy continued to close out the confab with the hottest ticket, a star-studded Moroccan-themed event poolside at the Hotel Solamar that attracted the cast of “True Blood,” “Heroes,” “Vampire Diaries” and producers of “Lost.”

The Wrath of Con bash took the more alternative route, with such guests as comicbook icon Stan Lee, director Zack Snyder, and “Transformers” franchise scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci milling around a wrestling ring at the Hard Rock Hotel.

A rooftop overlooking the Petco Park baseball stadium hosted a shindig for UTA, Electronic Arts and Oni Press, where Tyrese Gibson (who was pushing his own comicbook at the confab) took over as DJ and Joss Whedon hit the dance floor.

Tim Burton stopped by Lionsgate’s cocktail reception at the Hard Rock, while stars of Warner Bros. TV’s new shows attended the company’s intimate reception at the Hilton.

And the spotlight was on Megan Fox at MySpace and IGN.com’s swank fete for “Jennifer’s Body” poolside at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.
