    On-location film and TV production slid 31% in the second quarter, yielding a nearly 25% drop in production days for the first half of the year, FilmLA said Wednesday. The nonprofit group, which provides production-permit services throughout the Los Angeles area, recorded 19,015 production days from location-based shoots through June 30. That was 6,181 fewer than the first six months of 2008. The first-half plunge was most severe in feature film, with a drop of almost 53%.

And then there’s the glove — you know, the glove, Michael Jackson’s white glove with the flashing lights. A visit to Agoura Hills-based Profiles in History is like a trip to a Hollywood museum. “But it’s even better,” says the company’s Brian Chanes, “because it’s a museum where you can buy things.”

    “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: An Imax 3D Experience” posted record international opening results, with an estimated $3.6 million coming from 62 Imax theaters, for a per-screen average of $58,000 from Wednesday through Sunday. The film also opened in three domestic locations in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, where it generated $429,000 in gross boxoffice, for a per-screen average of more than $143,000. The film will open in 161 additional domestic locations on July 29, and will ultimately play on 231 Imax screens worldwide.
