Ron James to host Gemini Awards

TORONTO – Funnyman Ron James will host this year’s Gemini Awards scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14 in Calgary.

James, who has his own television program, the aptly-named The Ron James Show, has sold out theatres across the country with his kinetically charged performances featuring his machine-gun delivery and sharp take on contemporary society.

“Coupled with the unique comedic talents of Ron James, this year’s gala broadcast will be a reflection of the city’s unbridled energy and enthusiasm,” said Christine Shipton, senior vice-president of drama and factual content for Canwest Broadcasting. “Across the board, from the nominees to the fans, we can all look forward to an amazing night of entertainment and celebration.”

The 24th Annual Gemini Awards, honouring the year’s highest achievements in Canadian television, will be broadcast on Global-TV and Showcase from the grounds of the BMO Centre, Stampede Corral.

Launched by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television in 1986, the Gemini Awards honour outstanding achievements in the Canadian English-language television industry.

Tickets are on sale and can be purchased via www.ticketmaster.ca.
