Affleck, Damon reuniting at Warner Bros.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are stirring up some good will over at Warner Bros.

The actors, longtime friends who won the original screenplay Oscar for “Good Will Hunting” in 1997, are negotiating to close a first-look producing deal at WB. Details are yet unknown on the new company’s name or the length of the agreement, but the pact is likely to close within days.

Damon has worked with Warner Bros. often in recent years, starring in “Invictus,” “The Informant!,” “The Departed,” “Syriana” and the “Ocean’s” trilogy for the studio over the last decade. Affleck co-wrote, directed and stars in his latest film, “The Town,” for WB, which is releasing the crime thriller in September.

The two actors created and ran LivePlanet, which had a deal at Disney until 2007, a decade ago with Chris Moore and Sean Bailey, Disney’s new production chief. But it’s unclear whether Affleck and Damon will try to use the old name or devise a new one for the new venture at Warner Bros.

LivePlanet was behind the duo’s “Project Greenlight” features “Stolen Summer,” “The Battle of Shaker Heights” and “Feast,” as well as Affleck’s writing-directing debut, “Gone Baby Gone.” The company was also involved with Disney’s upcoming “Tron Legacy” release, which Bailey produced.

Damon’s “Ocean’s” and “Syriana” co-star George Clooney once had his Section Eight/Smokehouse shingle housed at Warner Bros. before he moved into a two-year production deal at Sony last year.

While Affleck has lately focused more on his writing-directing career, Damon has balanced a consistently successful profile in front of the camera in movies such as the “Bourne” series with more fringe fare such as “Gerry,” “The Brothers Grimm” and “Che: Part Two.” As producers, the two actors shepherded the “Project Greenlight” films, while Damon has been an executive producer on the documentaries “Running the Sahara” and “The People Speak.”

Repped by WME, Damon next stars in the action drama “Green Zone,” which Universal releases next month, the sci-fi romance “The Adjustment Bureau,” which Universal releases in July, and the thriller “Hereafter,” which WB will release at the end of the year. He’ll next film “True Grit” for the Coen Bros. at Paramount.

The WME-repped Affleck co-stars in John Wells’ downsizing drama “The Company Men,” which premiered at Sundance last month. As a director, he is prepping an untitled Arizona journalism project with producer Bailey and “Up in the Air” screenwriter Sheldon Turner.
