Stephen Ellis receives PS Production Services’ Industry Builders Award

PS Production Services has announced that Stephen Ellis has received the 2010 PS Industry Builders Award.

The award is presented annually by PS Chairman Doug Dales, and President & CEO Douglas Barrett at a dinner held during the annual CFTPA Prime Time in Ottawa Conference. It consists of a Lucite and cherry wood trophy featuring an original and well-used zooms lens as its centerpiece. The trophy is presented in memory of the late John Ross, a long time industry builder and member of the PS Production Services board of directors.

The award is given each year to a leading member of the Canadian production industry who has made a sustained and outstanding voluntary contribution to building its development and success. The recipient is selected by a jury composed of previous honourees who have included Stephen Stohn, Linda Schuyler and Ira Levy from Ontario, Wayne Grigsby and David Macleod from Nova Scotia, and Doug Macleod from Alberta.

“We are thrilled to honour an individual who has made such a huge contribution to our industry over so many years,” said Douglas Barrett. ”Stephen’s record of selfless, devoted and effective service is quite simply unequaled,” added Doug Dales.

Ellis’ contribution includes almost 30 years on the CFTPA board, including a term as its chair. He was the founder of the Canadian Retransmission Collective in 1989 and has continuously chaired its board for over 20 years. He is the current chair and board member of ISAN Canada. Perhaps most critically he has been the author and presenter of countless submissions to governments, agencies and the CRTC on behalf of Canada’s production community.

PS Production services is one of Canada’s leading professional motion picture and television equipment rental houses with operations in Halifax, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina and Vancouver.
