E1 to launch in Australia, New Zealand

Toronto-headquartered international distributor E1 Entertainment is heading Down Under, expanding its global network to cover Australia and New Zealand, and positioning the company for future moves in the region, E1 Filmed Entertainment president Patrice Theroux announced Tuesday.

The E1 brand lands Down Under this April with the scheduled release of feature pics “Incendiary,” “Helen” and “$5 a Day.” E1-produced TV comedy series “Kenny vs. Spenny,” one-hour dramas “The Bridge” and “Copper,” sci-fi series “Haven” and kids shows “Peppa Pig” and “Tractor Tom” will be released this year on DVD through leading Down Under distributor Beyond Home Entertainment, under the E1 brand. Digital outlets and local TV network sales will be handled through E1′s International Television Group.

“Our business model of acquiring rights and distributing programming across multiple formats including DVD, TV and digital formats has been tremendously successful in Canada, the U.S., U.K. and Benelux. We now look to replicate that success in Australia and New Zealand,” Theroux said in a statement, adding E1 plans to leverage its position in these new markets, and current territories, to drive further growth in Europe and other regions.

E1′s content library includes 4,000 feature pics, 2,700 hours of original TV and 15,000 music tracks, which are distributed across all media formats in more than 190 countries.
