Doug Murphy moves to president of Corus Television

Corus Entertainment Inc. has announced that Doug Murphy has been appointed as president of Corus Television.

Corus Television includes popular children’s specialty channels such as YTV, Treehouse and Nickelodeon. Corus also owns a 50 per cent stake in Teletoon and Teletoon Retro and fully owns women’s services W Network, Cosmopolitan TV, VIVA and W Movies.

Murphy joined Corus in 2002, where he most recently served as president of Corus Kids. He was responsible for overseeing the company’s programming assets aimed at children.

Before he worked at Corus, Murphy had 10 years of experience in senior positions with The Walt Disney Company.

“Doug is an outstanding executive with a proven track record for building strong teams and great brands,” John Cassaday, president and CEO of Corus, said in a release.
