PS’ Drabot Honoured By Winnipeg Film Group

Winnipeg, Manitoba – Michael Drabot, PS Toronto’s General Manager, was honoured last weekend at an annual fundraising Gala held for The Winnipeg Film Group.

During Saturday night’s Gala in which The WFG raised funds in support of its operations, Michael Drabot was the guest of honour. Hosted by Director of Photography Michael Marshall, the event showcased the PS Toronto GM as a champion of the Prairies film industry. The evening featured an overview of Drabot’s career as well as a screening of some of his film and video work through the past few decades.

Working on projects spanning the spectrum of film from independent, to Gemini Award winning, to Oscar calibre, Drabot has been an industry innovator and mentor to an entire generation of production lighters.

“The honour that The WFG bestowed on Michael on behalf of the Winnipeg community is richly deserved,” said Douglas Barret, CEO of PS. “As a long-time member of the PS family – on the prairies and now in Toronto – Michael has always striven to push the limits of perfection. It’s great when the world acknowledges what we have known here all along. Congrats Michael!”

The Winnipeg Film Group is an artist-run education, production, exhibition and distribution centre committed to promoting the art of cinema.

Arlea Ashcroft of the Winnipeg Film Group adds, “I’ve personally had the honour to work with Michael many times as his Best Boy and as an Electric. He’s the one who taught me how to paint with light and to love the process of filmmaking.”
