MONTREAL – “Resident Evil: Afterlife” is the top-grossing Canadian film ever, with a global box office take of $280 million, it was announced Monday.
It has beaten previous title-holder “Porky’s.”
Both pics were produced by Toronto-based filmmaker Don Carmody.
“Resident Evil: Afterlife” is a Canadian-German co-production released in the U.S. by Sony Screen Gems, by Alliance Films in Canada and internationally by Summit Pictures.
Carmody and French producer Samuel Hadida, who co-produced “Resident Evil,” will team up again next year on helmer Michael J. Bassett’s “Silent Hill: Revelation 3D,” the sequel to “Silent Hill,” which will shoot in Toronto.
