James Cameron making 3D film on Cirque du Soleil

As if he’s not busy enough making two new Avatar films, James Cameron, pictured, will produce a new 3-D film following gravity-defying Cirque du Soleil productions currently in production in Las Vegas, according to Deadline.com.

The film is already a third of the way through production — though the news just broke on Wednesday — probably because it’s being shot outside the studio system. The film will reportedly mix narrative storytelling with Cirque’s dramatic performances. Andrew Adamson, who created the story and will direct, is currently in New Zealand shooting narrative segments. The Shrek and Chronicles of Narnia director has reportedly already shown samples to potential distributors.
