OMNI Television to Air Indian Oscars in Toronto

TORONTO – Canadian broadcaster OMNI Television is to get a taste of glitzy India when it airs Bollywood’s version of the Oscars taking place this June in Toronto.

OMNI, as the Canadian broadcast partner of the International Indian Film Academy, will air highlights from the June 23 to 25 kudosfest, including green-carpet strutting, and a star-packed music and fashion show.

The three-day IIFA show will climax with the main awards show — basically prize-giving intersected with song and dance numbers — from Rogers Centre in Toronto. The broadcast pact comes as the IIFA for the first time holds the Indian film awards, which has a worldwide audience of around 750 million TV viewers, in North America.

OMNI Television plans extensive lead-up coverage of the IIFA show, including a new four-part series, Best of the IIFAs, and an entertainment series, Bollywood’s Best Top 10, hosted by Canadian-born Bollywood actress Lisa Ray.
