Two top TV talents join forces to launch AllScreen Entertainment

Canada’s newest entertainment company aims to create innovative content for TV, Web, mobile platforms and beyond.

Award-winning TV creator Allan Novak has joined forces with award-winning producer/director and writer Barri Cohen to launch AllScreen Entertainment, the latest addition to Toronto’s vibrant content creation cluster. AllScreen’s goal is to leverage the duo’s considerable experience and talents to create and produce innovative video and trans-media
content for TV, web and mobile.

Until recently, as VP Factual and Reality at Toronto’s Temple Street Productions, Novak oversaw television productions including Canada’s Next Top Model. He also developed and sold Recipe To Riches a large-scale competitive-reality TV series and format to Shaw Media and Loblaw. Prior to that, Novak’s Indivisual Productions created Loving Spoonfuls, the grandmother cooking/comedy series, Punched Up, a hybrid comedy/reality series, The Jokes on Us:50 Years of CBC Satire hosted by Leslie Nielsen and four doc-reality series with partner Ralph Benmergui. Novak is also an award-winning director and editor whose work includes The Newsroom, Kids in the Hall, Codco and Mike Myers’ first TV sketches with Wayne and Dieter.

“It’s an amazing time to be launching a company like AllScreen,” says Novak. “The creative and
business possibilities out there are unprecedented.”

Barri Cohen is a highly sought after show-runner/producer/director writer most recently
responsible for such outstanding factual series as The Food Network’s The Opener, (2010
Yorkton Festival Best Lifestyle Doc), Slice’s first season of Revamped, W’s Crimes of Passion
and the Gemini nominated Best Human Interest Series Situation Critical for Discovery Health
USA (now OWN). She is also the Writers Guild of Canada 2008 award winner for her critically
acclaimed feature Toxic Trespass (NFB). Cohen says, “Creating AllScreen Entertainment is the
next great logical step for us as we build on our respective strengths to create an exciting slate
of projects with an eclectic mix of creative teams.”

The pair plan to develop new shows and content properties in the factual, reality, drama and
comedy realms for the Canadian, US and global markets
