  • Quebec’s film industry protests National Film Board cuts

    Over 150 film directors, producers, festival organizers, teachers and other artisans of Quebec’s cinema industry symbolically occupied the National Film Board’s CineRobotheque on Monday. They were protesting the cuts to culture in the last Harper government budget that will result in the closing of the NFB’s 150-seat cinema, its offices and its video-on-demand CineRobotheque on Sept. 1.

  • Cinematographer Robert McLachlan joins the “Game of Thrones” team for the final two episodes

    Vancouver based Cinematographer, Robert McLachlan is set to reunite professionally with director David Nutter on the hit television show “Game of Thrones”. Robert has been asked to be the Director of Photography for the two finale episodes of the third season for the popular HBO series. The episodes are expected to be the biggest and most spectacular to-date for the show, which is a fantasy television adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s series of books, titled A Game of Thrones. Filming will take place this summer and fall in Ireland, Croatia and Morocco. The episodes will air on the HBO network next year.

    SIM Digital has announced that it has acquired the finishing division of Master Key, a Los Angeles-based post-production house. The acquisition comes right on the heel of last week’s announcement of Sim Video’s name change to SIM Digital.
