Insight Productions Introduces Groundbreaking Original Comedy Project America, Eh!

TORONTO, April 29, 2013 /CNW/ – Toronto-based Insight Productions is launching an all new multi-screen enterprise that aims to assemble Canada’s best comedic talent for the sole purpose of making fun of that never-ceasing amusement park to the south: America. America, Eh! is a 360 degree media concept that will include distinct online, mobile and social media content, anchored by a hilarious one hour series. The project will deploy all forms of humour – a combination of sketch comedy, slapstick, farce, satirical news desk and more – to keep a running commentary on the 24/7 media stream of outrageous political, cultural and celebrity events flowing across our border in waves. “Nobody is more equipped or better at making fun of Americans than Canadians,” said John Brunton, Chairman & CEO, Insight Productions. “Our friends to the south are a constant source of inspiration, especially for comedy…and we know they can take it because they just keep on doing it!”

More than just a television series, America, Eh! will be a worldwide conversation featuring fully interactive, multiplatform content designed to showcase the deep pool of talented Canadian comedians, from world renowned performers, to emerging amateur talent, and also invite user-based content from enthusiasts around the world to join in the fun. The project will also include a touring show stacked with the best in Canadian comedy to further enhance the 360 experience and bring the fun directly to audiences.

Insight, recently named one of Real Screen’s top Global 100, is launching America, Eh! to complement the record shattering success of the second-screen components of its smash ratings hit Big Brother Canada for Slice, the wildly anticipated The Amazing Race Canada for CTV, and the international sensation Never Ever Do This At Home for Discovery Canada, recently acquired by Spike in the U.S. Heather Muir (Big Brother Canada, Bachelor Canada, The Jon Dore Television Show) is attached as casting producer.
