Sundance Unveils Short Film Program for 2014
Wednesday December 11th 2013Sundance Film Festival has announced the 66 films that will appear in the 2014 festival’s short film program.
The chosen films, which are divided into the U.S. narrative, international narrative, documentary and animated categories, were picked out of a record-breaking 8,161 submissions – 59 more than last year’s program – and span countries including the US, Denmark, the UK, France, Norway, China, Iran and more.
Picks also include familiar names, such as “Dawn,” Rose McGowans directing debut about a quiet teenager wanting out of her sheltered life, Danny Pudi’s “Untucked” documentary about the “untucked” jerseys Marquette University basketball players wore to win the 1977 national championship, and “Remembering the Artist, Robert De Niro, Sr.,” directed by Perri Peltz and Geeta Gandbhir and about the iconic actor’s father. “Dawn” is part of the U.S. narrative category, while the others are documentaries.
“The Short Film program for the 2014 Sundance Film Festival features an astonishing array of new stories, viewpoints and filmmaking talent, positioning it at the core of our work to discover and share independent perspectives on our culture and world,” said Trevor Groth, director of programming for the fest.
Sundance unveiled its documentary and world premieres, which also have a strong international presence, yesterday.

The 30th Sundance Fest will run Jan. 16-26.
