SIM Group Merges with Hollywood’s Chainsaw

SIM Group has announced that we have recently finalized an agreement to join forces with Chainsaw, one of Hollywood’s most successful independent post-production facilities. The company, which was founded in 1996 by Bill DeRonde (who was later joined by Mike Polito), is best known for working with renowned productions including The Academy Awards, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. Its credits also include, The Kennedy Center Honors, Teen Wolf, Real Husbands of Hollywood, America’s Got Talent and The 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert.

The merger would see SIM immediately expand our post offerings in the Los Angeles market through Chainsaw’s services which complement and fuel SIM’s already robust workflow solutions. Over the past few years, SIM has steadily grown by broadening our scope of business to include experts in the field of cameras, playback, lighting and grip, workflow services and post production. Now, with Chainsaw’s specialized post services, we can bring forward even more turn-key solutions to serve our clients to the highest level.

The company currently provides creative editorial, editorial finishing, color grading, visual effects and other services through fully-integrated, digital facilities in Hollywood. Their office also holds a digital intermediate theater for feature film finishing and a large satellite facility with editorial systems and space available on a rental basis.

“We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with such an incredibly talented team. Chainsaw will continue to operate under its current name under the SIM Group family of companies with initial integration plans to be initiated in California. This is a very exciting time for both of our companies and we look forward to working together to provide our clients with the very best tools and services available in the industry today.”
