D Films acquires exclusive Canadian distribution rights to The Guest from HanWay Films

D Films announced today that it has acquired the exclusive, long-term Canadian distribution rights in all media to the Sundance Film Festival hit The Guest. The acquisition was announced today by Jim Sherry, President and CEO of D Films.

The Guest stars Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Maika Monroe (At Any Price, Labor Day), Brendan Meyer, Sheila Kelley, Leland Orser, and Lance Reddick (American Horror Story, Intelligence).

The film depicts a young soldier who arrives on the doorstep of the Peterson family, claiming to be a good friend of their beloved son who died in battle. The Petersons welcome David into their home and into their lives, but when people start mysteriously dying in town, mayhem ensues as their teenage daughter, Anna, starts wondering if David is responsible.

The Guest comes from the visionary team behind You’re Next, director Adam Wingard, writer Simon Barrett and Snoot Entertainment’s Keith Calder and Jessica Calder.

“The Guest is truly a wild ride, Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett have once again delivered an action-packed and sophisticated film, elevating the genre to new heights” said Michael Robson of D Films. ”We are extremely excited to bring The Guest to Canadian audiences – it will blow them away.”

The deal was negotiated by Michael Robson on behalf of D Films and Clair Taylor on behalf of HanWay Films.

The film is scheduled for a fall release in Canada with Picturehouse distributing in the US.
