WWE Network Expands in Canada, Middle East

As it looks to grow its viewership of the upcoming “WrestleMania” pay-per-view event next month, WWE has locked down new distribution deals for its WWE Network in Canada and the Middle East.

Rogers Communications will provide the over-the-top streaming service to more Canadians through carriage agreements with Cogeco Cable Canada, Shaw and Shaw Direct, Telus Optik TV and Telus Satellite TV, and Videotron. It’s also available on Eastlink in the country.

The rollout on the other TV providers will start Feb. 25 with Telus and run throughout March.

WWE and Rogers announced a 10-year broadcast and multimedia deal in August, making the cable operator the exclusive distirbutor of WWE’s programming.

In the Middle East, a new five-year pact with pay-TV network OSN will make the WWE Network available as a premium, linear channel in the region and in North Africa on set-top boxes, through its OSN Play VOD service and via WWE’s app, through GO by OSN.

OSN already aired WWE’s weekly “Raw” and “SmackDown” TV shows, as well as “NXT,” “Superstars” and other series.

“OSN has a longstanding relationship with WWE, and we are very excited to be expanding that relationship further with the exclusive carriage of the WWE Network,” said Andy Warkman OSN’s VP, sport and production. “We will be co-branding the linear channel OSN WWE Network HD and following on from our enhanced TV deal renewal last year, this is great news for WWE fans in the Middle East & North Africa region. We are looking forward to launching the network in the coming weeks and cementing our position as the home of WWE in the region.”
