Twitter Canada and TVA Group Partner to Offer Viewers an Enhanced Television Experience

TVA Group has announced that it will be the first Quebec media group to partner with Twitter Canada. To celebrate this association, TVA Group will integrate two Twitter tools – Periscope and the Twitter Mirror – into two TVA Network programming events: the grand finale of La Voix, on Sunday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m., and the red carpet at the 30th Gala Artis, on Sunday, April 26 at 7:00 p.m.

The Periscope app, recently launched in Canada, allows users to share and experience live video from their mobile, anywhere in the world The Twitter Mirror lets the public generate animated GIF images through its interactive screen and has proven popular on the red carpet and behind the scenes at some of the biggest events. Already used at major events, such as the Grey Cup, the Juno Awards and the Much Music Video Awards, the Twitter Mirror will give viewers access to unique, real-time moments for the first time in Quebec.

“Quebecers have embraced social media to complement their personal experiences online. As the social soundtrack to live television, Twitter allows users to engage in real-time conversations that extend far beyond their living rooms. The platform has found a spot in the homes of Quebecers as a second screen of choice for live television programs and we are excited to be working closely with TVA Group for the season finale of La Voix and the 30th anniversary of Gala Artis. TVA Group is a perfect example of how an organization can effectively use Twitter to enrich the television viewing experience. The partnership was a natural fit for us,” explains Lindsay Lynch, Head of TV, Entertainment, and Music for Twitter Canada.

“Since the beginning, TVA Group wanted to offer Quebecers a more intimate experience. In this respect, Twitter is a powerful tool. We are excited about this partnership which will allow us to further enhance the viewer experience,” says Suzane Landry, Senior Director of Programming at TVA Group. “We are very proud to be the first media group selected by Twitter Canada as a partner in Quebec. We see this as recognition of our leadership in the digital space and of our efforts to be a forereunner in the media landscape, bridging the gap between networks and social media platforms.”
