Global Television Presents 102nd Annual Santa Claus Parade

(TORONTO – November 2, 2006) – Santa Claus is coming to town…it’s that special time of year again when thousands of fans line the streets of downtown Toronto, bundled up in warm blankets, anxiously awaiting the arrival of jolly old St. Nick. 2006 marks the 22nd year for Global Television as the official host broadcaster of the city’s annual event, and the 102nd year for The Santa Claus Parade.

Global kicks off its 90-minute Parade coverage on Sunday, November 19 at 4:30pm ET. In addition, The Parade coverage will be available on www.globaltv.com from Monday, November 20th through until New Year’s Day.

"The Santa Claus Parade is a huge part of Toronto, and Global is a proud supporter of this long-standing tradition," said Christine Shipton, Vice President, Original Programming, CanWest MediaWorks. "The Parade has been enjoyed for generations and the excitement only continues to grow – it is the perfect annual marker to kick-off the holiday season."

Global Television’s Susan Hay and Leslie Roberts return for their second year together as co-hosts for the city’s beloved event. With over 20 floats covering the 5.7 km parade route – starting from Bloor and Christie Streets, moving along the central core of the city, completing its run on the corner of Front and Church Streets, at the Flatiron heritage building.

"With over 20 dazzling floats scheduled to participate, we also have a few unexpected surprises in store."
