    Producer Robert Lantos, founder and former Chairman/CEO of Alliance Communications Inc., today announced his return to international and domestic film distribution with the formation of two new companies, Maximum Films International and Maximum Film Distribution. The move reunites Lantos with two of his key former Alliance executives – Charlotte Mickie and Anthony Cianciotta.

    The hugely successful sitcom "Corner Gas" will compete against satiric stalwarts "Royal Canadian Air Farce" and "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" at this year’s Geminis, but "Little Mosque on the Prairie" _ the lighthearted look at Muslim life that received international buzz when it premiered last fall _ was largely shut out of the awards honouring the best in Canadian television.

    Piers Handling, Director & CEO of the Toronto International Film Festival Group announced today an additional contribution from the Copyright Collective of Canada, in the amount of $2 million, making their total donation $3 million.
