    Foot traffic is way down at the National Assn. of Broadcasters confab this year, but some of the smaller fry on the exhibition floor say they’re still doing pretty good business. A walk through the NAB’s 810,000 square feet of exhibition space at the Las Vegas Convention Center is a vivid reminder of the hardware-intensive nature of broadcasting and production.

    The kudos just keep coming for “Corner Gas.” Series creator Brent Butt was honoured at the Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Awards on Monday night, winning the best half-hour TV episode award for penning a “Corner Gas” instalment titled “Full Load.” The show ended its six-season run last week.

    Another deadline looms for talks between Canwest Global Communications and its creditors this week in talks to restructure the Canadian media company’s debt-laden balance sheet amid a sharp downturn in the advertising market. Canwest, Canada’s biggest media company, has until Tuesday to reach a deal both with its senior lenders and with investors holding its 8% senior subordinated notes.
