Global TV uses TriCaster Studio for live news

UniSon Production Products and Global TV Edmonton have announced that they are using the ultra portable TriCaster Studio – recipient of the TV Technology Star 2007 "Superior Technology" Award – for live switching of the 6:00 evening news hour.

Instead of being produced in Global TV studios, Global recently took the news show "On The Road" and produced it in the large atrium of the Bytes Cafeteria at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

"There are times when using the large mobile production truck just isn’t what you want. You want to be able to move out of the studio, out of the mobile truck and right into another building," said Vic Gobeil, Global. "Sometimes that room is a long ways from the mobile and you need to be set up right in the same room. We were looking for a portable system that would be easy to setup, rock solid and easy to use."

TriCaster Studio was also NAB’s winner of the "Award for Innovation" in 2005 and 2006.
