  • Sony Reaches $3 Billion at Worldwide Box Office

    For the first time in its history, Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) will exceed more than $3 billion in worldwide ticket sales tomorrow, December 8th. It was announced by Jeff Blake, chairman, worldwide marketing and distribution for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group and vice chairman of SPE.

"Ed & Red’s Christmas Spectacle," happens Thursday, December 14th at 10:00 p.m. upstairs at the El Mocambo, 464 Spadina Avenue, in downtown Toronto.

    Colm Feore is the star of one of the top-grossing movies in Canadian history, this year’s bilingual cop adventure flick, "Bon Cop, Bad Cop."

    Yet the kind of superstardom that would greet his American and Quebecois counterparts in the aftermath of such a huge hit simply doesn’t exist in English Canada, where domestic films nabbed just 1.9 per cent of box office earnings this year.

    "The Good German" is Steven Soderbergh’s attempt to mimic the look and feel of those great 1940s-era black-and-white film noirs. But George Clooney and most of his co-stars are generally so dour that the film often drags along lifelessly through what are supposed to be moments of sharp drama.
