  • Conan O’Brien won’t do a later ‘Tonight Show’

    Conan O’Brien is not moving. The late-night host says he won’t cooperate with the network’s plan to move “The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien” to 12:05 a.m. to accommodate a return of Jay Leno to the network’s crowded late-night lineup with a half-hour version of the primetime “Jay Leno Show.”

  • Sundance sets juries
    Tuesday January 12th 2010

    The Sundance Film Festival has tapped Russell Banks, Karyn Kusama, Parker Posey, Morgan Spurlock and Christine Vachon among the members of its juries. Sundance announced the members of five juries Monday for the festival, which runs Jan. 21-31. Awards will be announced Jan. 30 at the ceremonies hosted by David Hyde Pierce at the Park City Racquet Club.

    Compared with the physical world of film, digital shooting promises speed and flexibility. No waiting for dailies, no shipping cans of film back and forth from labs. The difficulty of downloading giant digital files has kept the movie business from going the way of the record business, in that it confounds pirates. But it also can make digital production difficult. But some things that filmmakers take for granted in the analog world pose thorny problems in the digital realm.
