Monday October 16th 2006TORONTO, Oct. 16 /CNW/ – From established salon owners, to those who may give exceptional cuts at their kitchen tables, thousands of Canadians have what it takes to become the next big thing to hit the hair styling industry.
Life Network is offering Canadians with raw talent for styling hair the once-in-a-lifetime chance to be discovered in the first-ever Superstar Hair Challenge. The seven part series exposes the process behind the making of the nation’s next top hairstylist, from their very first audition to their crowning moment and all the drama in between. Anyone with flair for hair and a love of the camera is invited to send in a 10-minute audition tape that demonstrates their style and ability by showcasing before and after images of a hair cut or style – letting their creativity, charisma, and star quality shine through. Life Network’s team of experts will be accepting and reviewing submission tapes between October 15 and November 15, 2006.
"Whether the name behind some of the most famous heads of hair in Hollywood or head of a world-renowned salon that takes appointments months in
advance, hairstylists today are celebrities in themselves and this competition was designed to give one lucky and talented Canadian their big break in the industry," says Vanessa Case, Vice President, Content, Life Network. "We can’t wait to start the casting process for Superstar Hair Challenge and meet the surprising and brilliant personalities behind the skilled hands that deserve a shot at the title."
10 finalists from across the country will be chosen from all levels of experience by a panel of top industry experts and flown to Toronto to compete in the series. Over a one week period, competitors will be put through a series of challenges testing their unique hair styling abilities all while living under one roof. Finalists will be cut as the challenges increase in difficulty, until only the ultimate Superstar Hairstylist remains.
In addition to national television exposure and the bragging rights that come with the Superstar Hair Challenge title, the grand prize includes a free trip to attend an elite North American hair industry event, valued at $5,000 and a $2,000 prize package of professional hair care products and essential tools.
