Spin contributes VFX to Max Payne

SPIN recently delivered 140 maximum-impact VFX shots for the upcoming Fox Studios action thriller ‘Max Payne,’ opening in theatres October 17. The suspenseful film-noir (starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and Beau Bridges) was shot in and around Toronto, doubling for an atmospheric New York City.

Fox Studios awarded the VFX work to SPIN, who out-tested 11 other studios internationally, a great coup for VFX Supervisor Jeff Campbell and his team. Fox Considered SPIN as the “creature shop” for Max Payne and awarded all the CGI character shots along with primary CG environments, matte painting and set extensions.

Director John Moore, known for his high standards, commented that SPIN “is doing God’s work here.” In one intense VFX sequence, the character Owen is pulled from a building by a CG demon. Impressed by the impact and integrity of this sequence, Moore established this look as the aesthetic template for all other demon shots.

In the words of Ken Wallace, the VFX Producer, and Everett Burrell, the VFX Supervisor, “The Director is VERY happy with the visual effects, which is a testament to the extremely high level of work we acheived under very challenging conditions. The excellent service SPIN provided is certainly appreciated by us, and the executives at FOX.
