SMPTE’s Digital Cinema Summit kicks off Saturday with a heavy dose of 3-D, with Sunday stressing 3-D at home. Disney’s Mark Zoradi gives the Sunday keynote. Post-Production World starts Saturday and runs through Wednesday afternoon. The Producer/Director Workshop also kicks off Sunday and continues into Monday.
MONDAY
NAB’s formal opening session features the State of the Industry address from NAB prexy David Rehr and a keynote from author Richard Florida. Mary Tyler Moore gets the Distinguished Service Award. Television luncheon features Hall of Fame induction of Bob Newhart and Chairman’s Award presentation to Kelsey Grammer.
3-D takes centerstage after lunch as Pixar previews “Up” in the Content Theater, “Coraline” helmer Henry Selick keynotes on digital tech and stop-motion animation, Gerry O’Sullivan of BSkyB tunes in 3-D TV, and an alternative content session shows new 3-D footage.
TUESDAY
Rob Cohen defends the action film in a 10:30 keynote. Radio luncheon features NAB Hall of Fame presentation of Vin Scully. At 2:00, David Eick gives a post-mortem on Sci Fi Channel’s “Battlestar Galactica.” Later, Jim Henson Co. presents a case study of its Creature Shop in the Content Theater. The Producers Guild and NAB co-host “Mass Animation: Crowdsourced Creativity on the Social Networking Front.”
WEDNESDAY
A conversation with bestselling author Malcolm Gladwell launches a tech-heavy day. Anthropologist Mimi Ito addresses the Technology luncheon on Youth and New Media; engineers Jack Sellmeyer and Sterling Davis are honored. After lunch, Josh Schwartz, creator of “Chuck” and “Gossip Girl,” speaks on creating in the new media landscape. A later session asks, “Personalized Content: Is It TV’s Next Given?”

Videogames and alternative reality dominate the day’s events.
Visionary Jane McGonigal speaks in a supersession on “Game Theory for Real Life.” AFI presents a panel on collaborations between the gaming and TV industries.
