CSC Comprehensive presents a 3D workshop

The Canadian Society of Cinematographers has announced a 3D workshop for professional cinematographers, directors, producers and camera assistants led by acclaimed U.K. cinematographer Geoff Boyle (Dark Country 3D).

The course will operate in two streams, one for cinematographers, one for assistants. Both streams will come together to accomplish camera set ups in a variety of configurations including Steadicam and crane, with a selection of different 3D rigs.

This four day course will introduce the participants to the theories of stereography and how they relate to storytelling:

– Should you shoot parallel or converged?
– Is breaking the frame edge a problem?
– The 4th wall
– What are interaxial and convergence and how do they affect the image?

By reviewing the results in a 3D post-production suite, participants will gain in-depth knowledge into the art of storytelling in 3D. The assistant’s stream will be guided by industry professionals and will cover:

– Convergence pulling.
– On-set monitoring options.
– Various camera configurations including beam splitter rigs and side by side systems.

When: February 5-8.
