CSC offers a Comprehensive Canadian 3D Workshop

BY REA KELLY, TO411 Staff Writer

CSC members Dylan Macleod, Jeremy Benning and Ray Dumas have initiated a Canadian 3D hands-on workshop that is relevant and timely. The workshop is offered in 3 streams: for DPs, for ACs and for industry observers (Producers and Directors).

The workshop was devised to offer DPs and assistants a local and hands-on opportunity to learn from experienced 3D DPs such as UK’s Geoff Boyle, shooter of Dark Country 3D.

Workship Coverage:

Technical aspects of 3D, creative aspects of shooting in 3D, set up and operate one of 4 camera rigs in a studio environment, understand the role of the stereographer (a person who manages the dual nature of the scenes; assists with understanding the 3D requirements for any given camera setup); this being a new role on a 3D shooting crew.

The stream for assistants includes; putting rigs together and learning the limits of this new media as it pertains to handheld, steadicam, and crane.

On the final day of the workshop participants can review what was shot at Creative Post. All participants are invited to attend the screening of Dark Country/3D.
