SPIN completes Still Life campaign
Thursday February 11th 2010SPIN has completed an on-air promotion campaign to brand three specialty programming blocks at TVO.
Lead Designer, Dave Desjardins, brought “stills to life” through his artful design and animation treatments.
For each unique promo, Dave skillfully utilized the 2 1/2 D technique to capture the integrity of the original photographs, then animated the journey in 3D. Hi-res photos are deconstructed and then rebuilt in independent detailed layers allowing for parallax with the shifting plates. The foregrounds and backgrounds are integrated together and enhanced with stylized digital paint procedures, colour, textures, transitions, and type treatments along with 3D embellishments and 3D camera moves.
Compositing techniques included projecting 2D images onto 3D proxy models to enhance dimensionality. A seperate animated corner bug element was also designed for network packaging. The HD promos were built in Cinema 4D, After Effects, and Flame.
