FX acquires ‘The Social Network’

“The Social Network” has already found its home on the small screen.

FX has acquired the broadcast television premiere rights to the Facebook movie, which stars a young cast led by Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake, the network announced Tuesday.

In addition, the cable network has also acquired rights to Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” the sequel to the 1987 flick.

Both films are slated to air on FX in early 2013.

“The Social Network,” which opened wide Oct. 1, has received positive reviews across the board and is already on the list for Oscar watch.

Though it was estimated that the film could rake in up to $30 million in its first weekend, it fell slightly below expectations, still taking in a solid $23 million.

“Wall Street 2,” which stars Shia LaBeouf, Carey Mulligan and Michael Douglas, took in $10.1 million in its second weekend for a cume of $35.9 million.
