Toronto Film Festival puts spotlight on filmmakers from London, England

The Toronto International Film Festival is putting the spotlight on London, England.

Festival organizers say this year’s “City to City” program will feature filmmakers living and working in the UK capital.

Festival CEO Piers Handling says England has “a remarkable tradition of filmmaking” from Alfred Hitchcock to Steve McQueen.

Artistic director Cameron Bailey, who was born in London, adds that they’ve always “been awed by the talent” in London and disappointed they can’t invite all the films they’d like to.

In the past, TIFF has featured films from Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Buenos Aires, Mumbai, Athens and Seoul.

The City to City: London lineup will be announced in August. The 40th Toronto International Film Festival runs Sept. 10 to 20.
